Legends, ambassadors and fans of football came together at the Manson House, Dublin on Thursday, 5th June to honour Patrick O’Connell. Members of the famous 1967 European Cup winning Celtic team, in a wonderful gesture, brought the trophy to the event. The unveiling of a Plaque at the former home of O’Connell in Fitzroy Avenue, Drumcondra (near Croke Park Stadium) took place at 11.30am on Friday, 6th June, followed by an official reception. It was a fantastic couple of days in Patrick’s home town; a long overdue but much anticipated salute to a great football man. Many, many thanks to all those involved in organising and supporting the events.
